Byte Engine Docs

Install BELD

Install the Byte Engine asset-baking command-line tool.

Install BELD from crates.io. Cargo builds an optimized binary and places it in the Cargo binary directory, usually ~/.cargo/bin.

Run:

cargo install beld

Add Cargo's binary directory to your PATH, then confirm the installation:

beld --help

Run the install command again when you want to update BELD.

Install from a checkout

To use the BELD source from a Byte Engine checkout, run this command from the workspace root:

cargo install --path crates/beld --locked

--locked uses the dependency versions recorded in the checkout's Cargo.lock. This is useful in CI and when you need BELD to match a specific engine revision.

Next, use BELD to bake or inspect resources.
